All That Glitters: Britain’s Next Jewellery Star

BBC2, 8pm A workshop in Birmingham’s jewellery quarter is the location for the latest creative reality competition. With Britain apparently bursting with jewellers toiling away, here’s a chance for one to emerge from the pack of eight contestants and establish themselves as a brilliant new talent.

Comedian Katherine Ryan (right with the judges) is ready with her quips as the host, but this is actually a serious business, particularly when the judges are involved. Solange Azagury-Partridge has works on show at museums around the world, while Shaun Leane numbers royals among his many A-list customers.

First up is the bestseller challenge – to make three silver bangles – before the bespoke round: who can create a pendant fit for someone picking up an MBE at Buckingham Palace?
