( 1980) Film4, 11.05pm Director Martin Scorsese’s stylish character study charts middleweight boxing champ Jake La Motta’s (Robert De Niro, above) gradual downward slide from arrogant prizefighter in the 1940s to unfunny comedian in the 1960s. De Niro piled on 60 pounds to play the latter-day La Motta and won a Best Actor Oscar for his efforts.
