Wild nights still on offer at Longleat

-

IT’S one thing staying at a wildlife park, quite another staying IN an animal enclosure! But that’s on offer now at Longleat, where The Marchioness of Bath Emma Weymouth, left, and h us bandCe awl in Thynn, 8th Marquess, have restored three derelict cottages to rent out at the 9,000 acre Wiltshire safari park – one of them in the zebra pen! Discussing the new cottage, Emma says: ‘Who wants to wake up to zebras outside their bedroom window? Just having breakfast with the zebras! I’ve decided I might move into one of these cottages.’ It’s all part of the couple’s future plans for the estate which they inherited a year ago when Lord Bath passed away, leaving his menagerie and some of his infamous 72 ‘wifelets’ on site. They stayed at Longleat for several months due to Covid, but have since decided to moved on, I gather. If they want to come back they can always kip with the animals, like the paying guests!

AS PART of my series on the chilled-out lives of Prince Harry’s former girlfriends, I have uncovered this never-before-seen gem, above, from the archives of his ex Chelsy Davy, showing her cheerleading!

Chelsy, centre, was snapped with her ‘squad’ of girlfriends ringing in the 2018 new year at a party in South Africa, just as Harry and Meghan were wedding planning. I wonder if the Americana uniforms were a nod to Harry’s fiancee at the time?

I gather Chelsy, 35, is relishing her freedom, having hung up her party shoes for a quieter and healthier lifestyle. But she is still looking for love. ‘She never seems to find men who are good enough for her,’ says one pal. Chelsy was at Leeds University back in the day and was often joined for weekend raves by then-boyfriend Harry. In the end they split up because she – unlike Meghan – decided early that she didn’t want the Royal life.
