From f iery volcanoes to a capital of cool

KEEN to sail away this summer? You still can, even though the Green List of destinations remains short. And looking further ahead, there are new ships and trips to book now for next year.

HOW about a no-fly cruise this summer to a Green List destination filled with spectacular sights? Sail from Liverpool on August 14 for nine nights on a Whales, Waterfalls & Geysers break to Iceland. First stop is the cool capital Reykjavik, then small ship Borealis (fredolsen cruises.com) dips in and out of fjords and crosses the Arctic Circle, calling at Isafjordur and Akureyri in the north and Seydisfjordur in the east. There are brilliant views of volcanoes and whale-watching opportunities along the way. The trip costs from £1,599pp.

Fancy a foodie weekend? Princess Cruises (princess.com) has cooked up a Culinary Stars cruise sailing for three nights on September 10. Celebrated TV chefs John Torode and Michel Roux Jr will be aboard Sky Princess demonstrating their skills, offering tips and sharing their kitchen experiences. Fares for balcony cabins, on this non-stop seacation round trip from Southampton, are from £299pp.

For a blast of spring sun next year, join the Three Continents maiden voyage of Celestyal Experience (celestyal.com/gb) on the Eastern Mediterranean. You’ll set foot on Europe, Asia and Africa all in one week during a round trip from Athens on March 5, 2022. See the Greek Island of Rhodes, Kusadasi in Turkey for ancient Ephesus, and Port Said in Egypt for Cairo and the Pyramids. Cruise-only fares from £1,518pp.

Glittering MSC World Europa (msccruises.co.uk) debuts in December next year for a season of winter sun in the Gulf. This ‘ultra-modern metropolis at sea’ holds 6,850 passengers, and oneweek cruises from Dubai take in wildlife-rich Sir Bani Yas Island in Abu Dhabi and Doha, the futuristic capital of Qatar, from £699pp.
