That spot on your elbow is in fact an exposed bit of nerve called the ulnar nerve, which runs from the spinal cord down to the fingers.
It is particularly sensitive because there is little bone, skin, fat or muscle in the area, leaving the nerve unprotected and more sensitive to touch.
This is why you feel numbness or tingling, even if you’ve just lightly grazed the area.
