The visitors’ manager Ryan Lowe was impressed with his team’s resilience. ‘We showed a lot of character to come from a goal down early on,’ he said. ‘We were cool.’

STEVE EVANS believes Sunderland ‘rode their luck’ against his side. Danny Lloyd’s penalty put the hosts ahead, before goals from Aiden O’Brien and Tom Flanagan gave Sunderland the victory.‘We should be winning comfortabl­y,’ Evans said. Elliot Embleton was sent off for the visitors.

BOLTON boss Ian Evatt, who said his side were the best in League One, was taunted by the away supporters after Will Keane, Callum Lang and two goals from James McClean earned Wigan an impressive victory. Evatt said: ‘It is a humbling defeat.’

STEVE COTTERILL praised his Shrewsbury players for their discipline. Shaun Whalley’s second-half goal gave them a narrow victory and the boss said: ‘Everyone will enjoy that one.’

REGAN POOLE’S winner heaped more pressure on Charlton boss Nigel Adkins. Sam Lavelle had earlier drawn the visitors level following Jayden Stockley’s own goal. ‘Fine margins didn’t go our way,’ said Adkins.
