MoS stalwart Nick Bagot dies, aged 50

TRIBUTES have been paid to The Mail on Sunday’s Nick Bagot, who has died at the age of 50.

Nick, pictured below, worked for this newspaper for 19 years as Chief Sub Editor on the Night & Day, Live and Event supplement­s, having joined in 2002.

His love of cars led to him working as motoring editor for many years, collaborat­ing closely with celebrity writers Chris Evans and James Martin. He also liaised each week with Piers Morgan on his column. Morgan said: ‘Nick was a brilliant sub editor and a master wordsmith. He was a fantastic journalist and a great guy, and his death is an absolute tragedy.’

Nick’s colleagues said he would be remembered for his kindness towards others, his uncanny ability to stay calm under pressure and his wry sense of humour.

A devoted family man, Nick is survived by his wife Joanna and his children Saskia, 19, and Harrison, 22.
