A voyage swinging into great golf clubs

- Caroline Hendrie

CRUISE lines and holiday companies are coming up with special-interest packages and extra perks to grab attention and our bookings. Here are some of the best out there now.

ON THESE golf tours with a difference, you and your clubs are transported in style from course to course. Tee off at top spots near the Danube, Seine and Rhine during one-week cruises accompanied by golf experts, while non-playing companions are kept busy on excursions or exploring on bikes that are carried on board.

For example, on the cruise on MS Amadeus Diamond, departing from Paris on June 8, you’ll play on four courses, including Aigle in Conflans and Etratat Golf Club.

Fares for golfers start at £3,099pp and non-players from £1,720pp (amadeus-rivercruises.co.uk).

Fred Olsen have chipped in with a deal for all-inclusive drinks and tips on 130 cruises, which makes for a significant saving, especially on longer trips. Toast your good fortune on the 15-night Rugged & Rural Canada nofly cruise aboard Borealis sailing from Liverpool on August 9, with fares

from £2,199pp. Or how about a twoweek Baltic States With St Petersburg no-fly cruise aboard Balmoral, departing from Southampton on September 13 with fares costing from £1,799pp (fredolsencruises.com)?

If you can’t decide between the Canary Islands or the Med, the Elegant Canary Islands From Barcelona cruise is just the ticket. On this 11-night cruise from April 4 aboard Riviera – part of Oceania’s fleet of small luxury ships – you’ll call at Alicante and Malaga en route to Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria, and then Tangiers and Cartagena before flying home from Rome. Fares, from £2,246pp, include flights, wi-fi and up to $800 per cabin to spend on board or a drinks package (iglucruise.com).

Another winning combination is a holiday to Las Vegas and the Caribbean. Spend five nights five-star in Vegas before flying to the Texas beach town of Galveston on the Gulf of Mexico for two nights. A week’s cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas calls at Cozumel in Mexico, Grand Cayman and Jamaica. The 14-night trip costs from £2,165pp, with flights, for January to March departures (bon-voyage.co.uk).
