Death In Paradise
BBC1, 9pm
Look elsewhere for searing social-drama verité. The primetime favourite is back for its 11th series, and with good reason, for this is a show that always delivers on the promise of its title – a good old-fashoined murder mystery in an idyllyic setting is the best kind of escapist entertainment.
DI Neville Parker (Ralf Little, right) is once more on the case as the expat detective on the Caribbean island of Saint Marie. In this week’s opening episode he investigates after a businessman is stabbed to death having taken a $50,000 ransom to get kidnappers to release his daughter.
But why did they kill him, and why are both the money and the girl missing? You won’t strain your brain cells too much following the plot, but who’s complaining when this is the only police procedural where you can expect to find a chicken at home in the hero’s office? )))))
