It’s 20 years to the day that Will Young (right) won the inaugural series of Pop Idol.

To mark the occasion, the singer-songwriter joins Bruce at Maida

Vale Studios in London, where he performs alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra as part of Radio 2’s Piano Room month.

In The Backlog (Radio 4, 4pm) Natasha Loder looks at how the NHS is struggling through its worst winter crisis in living memory while facing the huge task of clearing the backlog exacerbated by the pandemic.

The Folk Show With Mark Radcliffe (Radio 2, 9pm) features a live performance from up-and-coming London-based songwriter Flo Perlin.
