Starstruck

From this evening there will be two programmes on TV with the same name. BBC3’s Starstruck is a sitcom written by and starring Rose Matafeo, but ITV’s Starstruck is a very different beast.

If you were a fan of Stars In Their Eyes back in the day, you’ll no doubt love the latter because the format is very similar.

Here, teams of superfans are transformed into their musical idols, then step out onto the stage to perform one of their most iconic songs. Obviously makeup techniques, prosthetics and special effects have come a long way in the years since Matthew Kelly and co hosted the original run, so expect some stunning results from the makeover team.

Olly Murs is the host, while Adam Lambert, the omnipresent Sheridan Smith, Beverley Knight and Jason Manford (right) appear on the judging panel. ★★★
