SUNDERLAND 1 DONCASTER 2

INTERIM manager Mike Dodds admits he does not know if he will be in charge of Sunderland on Tuesday. ‘I’m working on a day-to-day basis. I hope they get someone in soon,’ he said. Reo Griffiths and Tommy Rowe scored in the first half for Rovers, and a late consolation from Corry Evans was unable to turn the tide on the day Jermain Defoe made his second debut in front of 38,395 fans.

IPSWICH 1 GILLINGHAM 0

KIERAN McKENNA admitted his team were ‘fortunate’ to win. Conor Chaplin’s 74th-minute strike was enough to earn Ipswich three points against relegationthreatened Gillingham. McKenna said: ‘It definitely wasn’t our best performance. We had the feeling all week it was going to be a tough game.’

ROTHERHAM 1 ACCRINGTON 0

JOHN COLEMAN ‘was expecting the game to be abandoned’ after seeing one of his Accrington players assaulted before missing from the spot. Harry Pell saw his 89th-minute penalty saved, moments after home fans had run onto the pitch, with one appearing to strike Pell. Dan Barlaser’s wonderful second-half volley proved to be the winner.

OXFORD 3 PORTSMOUTH 2

KARL ROBINSON praised Oxford’s quality. Luke McNally’s goal and two brilliant long-range efforts from Cameron Brannagan and Nathan Holland saw his men come from behind. Michael Jacobs and Ronan Curtis replied for the visitors, who had Joe Morrell sent off. Robinson said: ‘They were two

wonder goals to finish it.’

BURTON 0 SHEFFIELD WED 2

DARREN MOORE was pleased to see his side triumph on the road. Moore said: ‘We were worthy winners based on how the game went.’ Goals from George Byers and Sylla Sow gave Wednesday the win, their first away league success in five and first ever against Burton. Home boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said: ‘We scrapped, but the quality was poor.’

MK DONS 2 LINCOLN 1

LIAM MANNING believes his MK Dons side can play much better. John Marquis opened the scoring, but Dons defenders Harry Darling and Warren O’Hora both found the net either side of the break. Manning said: ‘The best thing is they know what they are capable of and I don’t need to tell them.’

MORECAMBE 1 BOLTON 1

IAN EVATT was raging after alleged racist abuse directed at his players from Morecambe fans stopped the game for 10 minutes. Bolton’s Ricardo Santos was sent off, before Cole Stockton missed a penalty. He made amends soon after, with Amadou Bakayoko earning a draw. Evatt said: ‘It’s disgusting and not acceptable.’

CHARLTON 3 WIMBLEDON 2

MARK ROBINSON was left disappointed with Wimbledon’s set-piece vulnerability. Goals from Ethan Chislett and Ben Heneghan proved in vain as Ryan Inniss, Conor Washington and Akin Famewo sealed the win. He said: ‘We got done at two set pieces.’

SHREWSBURY 1 FLEETWOOD 1

STEVE COTTERILL saluted a ‘magnificent’ second-half response from his Shrewsbury side. A Luke Leahy penalty earned the home side a deserved point as they hit back following Anthony Pilkington’s opener. He said: ‘We came back well, to a man our players were magnificent I thought.’

FOREST GREEN 2 NEWPORT 0

ROB EDWARDS remains grounded at Forest Green, despite his side looking a shoo-in for the title.

Matty Stevens’s brace extended the home team’s unbeaten run to 17 as they opened up a 10-point lead at the top of the standings. Goals in each half saw Stevens take his personal tally to 19 league goals, thanks to two Kane Wilson assists. Edwards said: ‘We aren’t taking anything for granted.’

SWINDON 1 EXETER 2

BEN GARNER questioned his Swindon side’s leadership. Joe Tomlinson’s opener looked to have set Swindon on course for victory, before late strikes from Jevani Brown and Timothee Dieng turned the game on its head. He said: ‘We’ve got to grow the leadership within the group.’

SUTTON 1 BRISTOL ROVERS 1

JOEY BARTON was left beaming at another late, late show for his Bristol Rovers side. Anthony Evans’s 85th-minute penalty rescued a point after Richie Bennett’s first-half opener at Gander Green

Lane. Barton said: ‘We got our rewards at the end. We deserved

something out of the game.’

BARROW 1 TRANMERE 1

MICKY MELLON described the decision to award a second-half handball against Josh DacresCogley as ‘cheap’. Former Tranmere midfielder Ollie Banks converted the resulting penalty equaliser to earn Barrow a draw after Josh Hawkes’s opener.

WALSALL 0 NORTHAMPTON 1

MATT TAYLOR insists his Walsall side are not in a relegation scrap. Mitch Pinnock was credited with the early winner as his free-kick nestled in a corner, although deadline-day signing Louis Appere claimed to have got the final touch. He said: ‘We’ve got to stop making errors.’

HARROGATE 2 BRADFORD 0

SIMON WEAVER paid tribute to his goalkeeper Mark Oxley after a fourth straight clean sheet. A Jack Diamond double proved to be the difference. Weaver said: ‘He is a model professional.’

LEYTON ORIENT 0 COLCHESTER 1

WAYNE BROWN heaped praise on his Colchester players. The winner came in the fourth minute when Freddie Sears delivered an unstoppable volley into the net. Brown said: ‘It was a brilliant win. There was a lot stacked against us.’

CRAWLEY 2 STEVENAGE 2

JOHN YEMS felt his Crawley side ‘defended like schoolboys’. A double by Tom Nichols had put Yems’s side on top but the visitors hit back through Arthur Read and

Scott Cuthbert’s late-gasp strike.

SCUNTHORPE 0 OLDHAM 1

JOHN SHERIDAN hailed Junior Luamba’s late goal as ‘massive’ in this basement battle. Sub Luamba got what could prove to be a crucial goal for Oldham seven minutes from time. He said: ‘It gives us belief and I’ve told the players to enjoy it.’

SALFORD P PORT VALE P

SALFORD co-owner Gary Neville apologised to fans after his club’s clash with Port Vale was called off 90 minutes before kick-off because of a waterlogged pitch. Neville tweeted that Salford would refund Port Vale supporters’ tickets, fund their fans’ coaches for the return game and fund the cost of the Port Vale team coach for the return game.’

Nearby Rochdale’s home game against Carlisle was also called off because of a waterlogged field.
