After the break-up of her marriage, middle-class Jewish-American housewife and mother Miriam ‘Midge’ Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan, right, with Marin Hinkle) decides she wants to become a stand-up comic and starts doing shows in and around New York, making friends and enemies along the way. The first two seasons of the stylish period dramedy won hatloads of awards but the third, in which we followed the quickwitted Midge on tour as the support act for a singer, showed signs of fatigue. However, the new series is back on track. Now Midge wants her manager Susie (Alex Borstein) to start getting her gigs as a headliner. From Friday
