PICK OF THE DAY
Louis Theroux’s Forbidden America BBC2, 9pm
As Louis Theroux (right) returns with a new three-part series of reports on extremist views in America, he begins with a shocking investigation into how the far-Right in the US is using social media to reach a younger audience.
Its leaders are often dangerously charismatic and, having learned from the violent white supremacist protest in Charlottesville in 2017 and the attack on the Capitol last year, they are now scheming to make themselves seem respectable.
But though some of these characters are initially friendly and jokey, their noxious racism and hostility is soon apparent. Rarely have Theroux’s attempts at dialogue been less rewarded. Again and again his attempts to engage these people in debate are met only with anger and insults, from people who pose an all too real danger to the world. ★★★★★
