YOUR AMAZING BODY

-

MORE than two per cent of human body weight is made up of bacteria – roughly 4lb worth in a 14st adult.

The body hosts trillions of microbes that play vital roles in our health, as well as others that cause diseases.

And according to studies, there are more of these microscopic organisms in a body than human cells.

Gut bacteria, for example, help the body to digest food and absorb nutrients, while others boost the immune system, and those that cover the skin protect it from infections and help wounds to heal.
