Dressing down in dungarees – Peaky’s cruel temptress and her actor boyfriend
IT’S a look that would have disgusted Lady Diana Mitford. But Amber Anderson, who plays the sinister temptress in Peaky Blinders, put aside her character’s elegant wardrobe for a pair of denim dungarees when she went for a stroll with her actor boyfriend.
The actress has won rave reviews for her portrayal of Mitford, whose chic appearance masked her racist, antisemitic views and her promiscuity.
In real life, Mitford married fascist politician Oswald Mosley at the Berlin home of Joseph Goebbels, while in a chilling scene in the current, final series of the BBC drama, she says: ‘When the time comes for the great cleansing, I myself will personally argue the case that the Jews must be dealt with but that the gypsies should be spared.’
Somerset-born Miss Anderson, 30, wore £80 dungarees by Kickers for her walk in North-West London with boyfriend Connor Swindells, the 25-year-old star of hit Netflix comedy Sex Education, who chose a brown hooded sweatshirt.
The pair are understood to have been dating for two years, having met while filming the latest big-screen adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma. Before that, the actress had a three-year on-off romance with Scottish singer Paolo Nutini. When that ended in 2017, she was romantically linked to Rizzle Kicks rapper Jordan Stephens.
Miss Anderson was educated at Gordonstoun in Scotland – the private school attended by Princes Philip and Charles – and helped to cover the £30,000 annual fees by modelling for brands including Chanel, Kenzo and Agent Provocateur.
Fans will be seeing more of Miss Anderson later this year when she stars in Tell That To The Winter Sea alongside This Sceptred Isle’s Greta Bellamacina. The pair play former lovers, with risque scenes expected – something of which Lady Diana may well have approved.
