THE SAINT: THE EARLY YEARS

TPTV ENCORE

-

The greatest eyebrow-actor of them all, Roger Moore, earned his acting chops as The Saint, ie debonair Simon Templar, in the series that ran from 1962 to 1969 and rivalled The Avengers for secret-agent mystique. It’s now enjoying a rerun on Talking Pictures TV on Sunday evenings. Arguably, Templar had the cooler car: a pristine white Volvo P1800. And for its star, a golden future as James Bond. The same could almost be said for his co-star in three episodes of The Saint, Shirley Eaton: she too went on to star in Bond… but ended up suffocated by paint in Goldfinger. From Sunday
