Elton John Night

-

BBC2, from 8.35pm Rocketman, Bennie And The Jets, Your Song, Crocodile Rock, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting... the list of hit records by the singer-songwriter formerly known as Reginald Dwight (right) is almost endless.

In 2018, he announced his intention to retire from touring, saying he would bow out following an epic number of gigs around the world – thanks to Covid and a hip injury, he’s still on the road.

If you haven’t got a ticket or are such a huge fan you can’t wait to see him in action, then fear not, because BBC2’s latest music night is dedicated to Sir Elton beginning with archive clips in Elton John At The BBC.

That's followed by the documentary The Making Of Elton John: Madman Across The Water (9.35pm), which charts his rise to fame, and two concert films – LiveAt HydePark (10.35pm) and BBC One Sessions: Elton John (11.30pm).★★★★☆
