ZARA LEADS CELEBS IN 70,000 CROWD

-

A SPRINKLING of celebrities joined yesterday’s sell-out crowd of 70,000 to cheer on the runners and riders as punters were allowed back at Aintree for the first time since 2019.

Rain and hail failed to deter famous racegoers at the Merseyside course, including the Queen’s grandchild Zara Tindall, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace and former

Liverpool FC manager Sir Kenny Dalglish.

The event is known for the flesh-baring outfits of some attendees, but 40-year-old equestrian Zara opted for a demure navy trouser suit. Princess Anne’s daughter is a keen racegoer and was pictured last month at the Cheltenham Festival.

Other famous spectators included Love Island contestant Chris Hughes, X Factor star Marcus Collins and Coronation Street star Antony Cotton.

Hollyoaks actress Jorgie Porter said: ‘You can feel the buzz here today. We’ve missed it so much.’

And football pundit

Chris Kamara said: ‘It’s unbelievable. I know that’s my catchphrase, but I have never been to the National before, so I’ve ticked it off the bucket list. It’s great.’
