JENNIFER Lopez and Ben Affleck are engaged again – 18 years since they announced they were splitting up.

Lopez, 52, announced the engagement on Friday in a tearful video posted on her official website, which saw her admiring an emerald and diamond engagement ring, whispering: ‘You’re perfect.’ A representative for the singer confirmed the news after Lopez took to Twitter to say: ‘So I have a really exciting and special story to share…’ and directed fans to her website.

Affleck, 49, and Lopez rekindled their romance last year.

They first met in 2002 on the set of the film Gigli and were engaged that November, when Affleck proposed with a 6.1 carat pink diamond. Lopez said she was ‘madly in love’ but the pair cancelled their 2003 wedding due to what they called ‘excessive media attention’. They officially ended the engagement in 2004.

Lopez married singer Marc Anthony in June 2004 and had twins Max and Emme in 2008.

Good Will Hunting and Argo star Affleck married actress Jennifer Garner in 2005. They had three children: Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, ten. Both marriages ended in divorce, and friends of Lopez told People magazine: ‘She never really got over Ben. He was the great love of her life.’

The pair recently bought a Hollywood mansion for £38 million. Lopez admitted to TV host Ellen DeGeneres: ‘I don’t think anybody was more surprised than us when we got together again. It’s a beautiful

thing.’ Experts think the engagement ring could be a rare green diamond worth more than £7.7million. Lopez has said that green is her lucky colour.

Representatives of the couple declined to comment on when the wedding will take place.
