In a two-part programme the actress (above) discovers how a network of Christian paths across north-east England and the Scottish borders inspired a wealth of unique traditions.

She begins in Hexham, joining bellringers in the Abbey and having a go herself. In Lauder she meets a local horseman who talks her through the annual tradition of riding the parish boundary.
