BRETT HODGSON blasted his Hull FC side after they crashed out of the Challenge Cup following a 24-16 defeat at Huddersfield.

The Giants reached the semi-finals for the first time since 2012 with tries from Ricky Leutele, Chris

McQueen and Tui Lolohea, who also booted six goals.

Hull touched down through Joe Lovodua, Andre Savelio and Darnell McIntosh, but Hodgson fumed: ‘We had too many players not performing at their best. We’re all hurting at the moment but we just weren’t good enough.’

Holders St Helens won 36-20 at Catalans. Fouad Yaha crossed first for the hosts but Jack Welsby, Lewis Dodd and Mark Percival’s tries put Saints in control.

Gil Dudson gave the Dragons hope before Morgan Knowles re-established Saints’ superiority. Yaha grabbed a second try but Dan Norman and Joe Batchelor crossed to seal Saints’ win.
