Police find ‘body of mother’ in woodland
POLICE searching for missing mother-of-two Katie Kenyon believe they have found her body in a woodland beauty spot.
The 33-year-old was last seen alive on the morning of April 22 getting into a silver Ford Transit van in Burnley.
Her disappearance triggered a frantic search by police, who have charged her ex-boyfriend Andrew Burfield, 50, with her murder.
Lancashire Police said yesterday that officers discovered a body on Friday night in the Forest of Bowland, designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. Police said they had received new information about where the body of Ms Kenyon, from Padiham, near Burnley, could be found.
Detective Superintendent Gary Brooks, of Lancashire Police, said: ‘Following extensive inquiries and after a number of days of searching, I can now sadly confirm that we have found a body and at this time we believe it to be that of Katie Kenyon.’
On Friday, Burfield appeared by video-link from HMP Preston for a court hearing charged with the murder of Ms Kenyon.
He was remanded in custody and a trial was set for November 14.
