Our favourite repair shop is open for business again as Jay Blades and his team of expert restorers return for a tenth series. The 14-episode run begins with four fascinatin­g and precious family heirlooms.

For horologist Steve Fletcher the test is putting back together a wooden clock that once stood almost 10ft tall but has been packed away in crates after being broken apart more than 30 years ago.

Metal worker Dominic Chinea (far right with Oliver Glynn) is tasked with restoring a rusty toy pedal car with a tragic story. Meanwhile, ceramicist Kirsten Ramsay and electronic­s expert Mark Stuckey will have to work their magic to get a china model dog again responding to its name, as it once did in the 1940s.

Hatter Jayesh has to mend a Rotherham United cap cherished by its owner and worn to games for 30 years. ★★★★☆
