Leave police to enforce law, not check gender
You reported last week about a guide listing a whopping 37 sexual identities and genders issued by police for its officers to use. What does this have to do with enforcing law? Everyone should be treated the same no matter their gender or sexual orientation, so there should be no need for this differentiation – or the ‘gender bread person’ diagram that goes with it.

Upon reading some of the titles in this gender guide, I found that none of them seemingly applied to me, a happily married man with a penchant for Ginger Nuts and a good marmalade.
Does that mean I am to be cast adrift, category-less, and not on the police’s gender radar if I have any contact with them?
Philip Munro, Manchester
Norfolk Constabulary are not the only ones who have had this gender ‘training’. My customerfacing place of work has also trained their staff about the many identities and genders so that we don’t offend anyone.
It is just ridiculous, completely mad and frankly embarrassing.
I can’t do my job without constantly worrying whether I will be offending the people I have to deal with every day.
Alex Lewis, Abingdon
I recognise that this list and ‘gender bread person’ diagram issued to police officers in
Norfolk is a bit much but I think it’s a good chart and we need to do all we can to see that the police are sensitive to these things. I actually found it rather educational for myself.
Ben Harris, New Mills, Derbyshire
There should be an investigation into whoever proposed this, whoever signed off on the expenditure and, ultimately, there should be disciplinary measures against such nonsense.
P. Clark, Leeds
Why don’t the police focus on tackling crime instead of worrying about hurting people’s feelings? If a victim of a burglary feels offended by the way the
call is answered then it’s not an emergency.
W. Olson, Southampton
I don’t think it’s a waste of time or money as expressed by former Shadow Home Secretary Ann Widdecombe. If it educates just one person then that is positive. Many don’t understand the gender issues of today and this will include people of all professions and members of the public, not just the police.
Rachel Allen, Hereford
To save our sanity, can the Home Office please get a grip on our so-called police force? What planet do these guardians of the law live on? Woke nonsense is beyond silliness.
