Watson eyes ‘unbelievable’ double glory
IAN WATSON is dreaming of a glorious Huddersfield double this month after his Giants beat Hull KR 25-4 to seal a Challenge Cup final spot.
Not since 1953 have the Giants won rugby league’s famous old competition but they will face Wigan in the final at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, May 28.
Huddersfield Town are also aiming to make the Championship play-off final at Wembley the following day.
Watson said: ‘It would be unbelievable for the Huddersfield community if both teams were in a final in the capital that weekend.’
Wigan booked their place after beating St Helens 20-18 in the other men’s semi-final, although the Saints retained their Women’s Challenge Cup title with a thrilling 18-8 victory over Leeds Rhinos.
