Derry Girls

It’s four years since the Derry Girls were launched on an unsuspecting public and immediately earned a dedicated fan following. Now we come, not only to the end of the third series, but also must bid goodbye forever to these much-loved characters in a feature-length finale.

It’s 1998 and the girls are preparing for a historic moment – the start of their final year at Our Lady Immaculate College. Oh, and there’s also the matter of a referendum on the Good Friday Agreement. Still, never mind the prospect of peace when there are more important matters to address – the joint 18th birthday party of Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson, right centre) and Orla (Louisa Harland, top right).

As the girls look towards the future with mixed emotions, it’s a fond farewell on a high note for writer Lisa McGee’s sublime creation.
