Scriptwriter Joe Barton – creator of the terrific Anglo/Japanese drama Giri/Haji – turns back time as the basis for a sci-fi drama that’s as apocalyptic and eccentric as the cult 2014 Channel 4 series Utopia.

Our hero is George (Paapa Essiedu, right), a geeky app entrepreneur happily ensconced in a relationship with his girlfriend Sarah – until he discovers he’s a mutant who can reverse time. His rare ability makes him a suitable recruit for a secret government team, headed by Wes (Caroline Quentin) and dedicated to saving the world by resetting the clock whenever extinction-level events occur.

The trouble is that George and his colleagues retain all the terrible memories of losing their loved ones and the psychological burden starts to take its toll. Despite all the plot loopholes, this mad story is also mesmerising. )))))
