Hampton Court Palace: Behind Closed Doors

Henry VIII’s favourite palace (right) is also one of the nation’s most intriguing places, so it’s a welcome return for the fly-on-thewall documentary about modern life there, back for a new three-part series.

It begins with a bit of detective work for chief curator Tracy Borman. She receives a call from a Tudor antiques specialist who claims he’s bought an item that he suspects once belonged to Anne Boleyn.

Borman has heard many such claims in the past, which have all turned out to be false, but this time she feels it’s worth investigating, particularly as so few of the former queen’s belongings have survived.

Meanwhile, the estate’s gardeners harvest grapes from Queen Victoria’s favourite vine and, as Halloween approaches, Hampton Court’s spectral residents get a chance to shine. )))))
