TRANSFER WINDOW
TOTTENHAM defender Joe Rodon is in France ahead of sealing his loan move to Rennes. The 24-year-old Wales international is eager to play regularly ahead of the World Cup. Rennes have an option to make the deal permanent for £17million. Tottenham remain keen to offload Giovani Lo Celso, who is a target for Villarreal, Japhet Tanganga, who is discussing a loan to AC Milan, Tanguy Ndombele, Bryan Gil, Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks.
MANCHESTER UNITED are considering Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic as well as Benjamin Sesko of Red Bull Salzburg. Austria international Kalajdzic, who is 6ft 7ins tall, is available for around £17m.
CHELSEA are closing in on an agreement with Napoli over a loan deal for Kepa Arrizabalaga. The 27year-old Spaniard, who cost a record £71.6m fee for a goalkeeper in 2018, played for Chelsea on Friday in their 3-1 win over Udinese. Manager Thomas Tuchel is also believed to be considering offers for striker Timo Werner.
AARON RAMSEY has received offers from French side Nice and MLS side Charlotte as he looks to finalise a decision on his future this weekend.
EVERTON are continuing talks over a return for former midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye from Paris Saint-Germain. The 32-year-old is up for sale and Everton are looking for a short-term deal given his age. Manager Frank Lampard wants two midfielders and has an interest in Chelsea’s Billy Gilmour — but is not pursuing his team-mate Ross Barkley.
ARSENAL left back Nuno
Tavares (above) has joined Marseille on a season-long loan, after being squeezed out of the Emirates by the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko.
The 22-year-old played 28 times in all competitions last season after joining the Gunners from Benfica in the summer of 2021. Tavares was already behind Kieran Tierney as Mikel Arteta’s first-choice left back and Zinchenko’s arrival left him surplus to requirements. Tavares had been linked with Atalanta but instead will cross the channel to Marseille.
