When Mia’s your big sister and Mike Tindall’s your dad, get used to some rough and tumble, Lucas

...and you’re a brave boy to disagree with Granny!

- By Natasha Livingstone

WHEN the Tindall family go out to play, no one can expect it to be a gentle affair – not even one-year-old Lucas.

Here he is chuckling with joy as his dad, former rugby giant Mike, lifts him skywards as if he’s in a lineout.

Eight-year-old daughter Mia joined in the rough and tumble too, tucking the laughing Lucas under her arms and running around.

Mike, who is married to the Queen’s granddaughter Zara, had his hands full yesterday as he enjoyed a day out at the Festival of British Eventing. The family, including the Tindalls’ other daughter Lena, four, were joined by a casually dressed Princess Anne, 71, who was pictured playing with her grandson at the prestigious event in Gloucestershire.

On Friday, Mike, 43, and his children watched 41-year-old British equestrian Zara compete on horseback at the festival held at Gatcombe Park on the Princess Royal’s estate.

In its 28th year, the two-day event encompasses dressage, show jumping and different cross-country phases on a course designed by Princess Anne.

But yesterday it was Lucas who was the centre of attention.

Mia, who is 22nd in the line of succession for the throne, also enjoyed an ice cream and was spotted dancing in the sun. Known for a mischievous streak, she is often found with her father and cousins at horse competitions. She is the eldest of the three siblings, with her younger sister Lena born in June 2018 and her brother Lucas in March last year.

After Lucas arrived, Mike said that Lena, then aged three, had taken to calling the boy ‘my baby!’ and kept trying to pick him up, leaving him and Zara to have to tell her: ‘No Lena, it’s not your baby!’
