Can I bridge the gap on a Scandi flydrive?

-

Q My wife would like to go by car over the bridge between Denmark and Sweden, as seen in the TV drama The Bridge. Can you hire a car in Copenhagen to do this, then go to Stockholm? Simon Richardson, via email

A That is the Oresund Bridge. First fly to Copenhagen, then return from Stockholm (costs from £39 return, ryanair.com). A week’s car hire from Copenhagen airport, dropped off at Stockholm airport, is from £991 (rentalcars. com). The drive is nearly eight hours, so a stop-off is advised.

Q We booked a 23-day Titan Travel ‘Grand Tour from Rome to Rajasthan by Private Jet’ in September. I am 79 and wanted to take my wife on a holiday of a lifetime. After two days we were asked to leave for being ‘slow’. We were offered half our money back – £28,000. Can you help? Spencer and Diana Barry, Tunbridge Wells, Kent

A Titan Travel says the tour of 50 people was delayed due to health or mobility issues, which should have been declared when booking under its terms. They add that the £28,000 payment was a ‘gesture of goodwill’.

Q I booked a ‘Holy Land’ trip to Israel with McCabe Pilgrimages next March, paying £350 with £3,000 due on December 12. I no longer want to go due to the war but will lose my deposit if I cancel. Any advice? Barbara Small-Daley, via email

A This is tricky. Pay the rest and you will be due a refund if the Foreign Office still says you should not travel to Israel in March. If this feels risky, take the £350 hit. McCabe would not comment when we asked.

Q My partner and I travelled to Crete with Tui but were charged £304 extra for ‘room occupancy’. The Tui shop assistant did not understand it but said l could request a refund. Tui has since claimed the charge was as our room had space for an extra bed. It did not. Can you help? W. H. Bourne, via email

A Tui apologises for the ‘web error’ and is refunding you.

Q My Ryanair flight from Dublin to Nice earlier this month had an aborted landing and the captain said clearance had not been given. The landing was then aborted again and we landed on the third attempt. A stewardess blamed ‘wind’, but it was calm. What happened? T. Cooke, Portrush,

County Antrim

A Ryanair says ‘the crew performed two routine goarounds due to low visibility’. It denies the captain said he was not given permission to land.

Q We travelled to Asmara in July with Turkish Airlines and our luggage was delayed for 12 days. We have sent receipts for extra costs such as toiletries but heard nothing. Any advice? Anne-Marie Kelly, via email

A Turkish Airlines’ policy is to reimburse ‘compulsory expenditures’ when receipts are sent within 21 days via the ‘new feedback’ form at www4.thy. com/baggage. It is now ‘carefully evaluating’ your case. Good luck.

Q I fly to Spain on January 6, 2024, returning April 4. My passport expires on July 6 and was issued April 6, 2014. Should I renew? And can I stay that long? Stephen Wallace, via email

A Yes to both. Renew your passport as, under EU rules, it must have been issued within ten years of your intended return. You are travelling for 90 days within 180 days, which is fine.
