We’d like a piece of the action in Corsica

-

Q We are in our early 50s and would like a fairly active holiday in Corsica in early July. Can you recommend a spa hotel? Alison Littlewood, via email

A Seven nights at the charming

Hotel U Capu Biancu, which has a spa and is by a sandy beach on the Gulf of Santa Manza, is from £2,140pp B&B with Gatwick flights on July 6 (justcorsica.co.uk). Hotel Les Bergeries on Palombaggia beach has a renowned restaurant and spa treatments. A week on July 13 is from £1,750pp (i-escape. com). Watersports at both.

Q We will visit the Algarve in May and will hire a mobility scooter for my husband. Will he need insurance?

Mary Sutton, via email

A Yes. Companies include

Blue Badge Mobility Insurance (bluebadge mobility insurance.co.uk) and All Clear Travel Insurance (allcleartravel. co.uk), which has a Trust pilot score of 4.8 out of 5.

Q We want to take our mother to Northern Ireland for her birthday, with our dachshund coming along too. Do we need a pet passport?

Lee Mildon, Seaford, East Sussex

A Not at the moment – see

‘Travelling with pets’ at daera-ni.gov.uk.

Q Do you know of cruise firms with discounts a day or two before sailing? I would consider Saga or something similar in the Mediterranean or further afield.

A.J. Groom, via email

A Saga tends not to offer late cruise deals. Try Iglu Cruise, which offers next-day departures, often with money off. Seven nights on MSC Euribia the next day was from £977pp last week (£88 off), departing Southampton to Rotterdam and Bruges. Or it has a ten-night Celebrity Infinity voyage from Athens on April 5 to Turkey and Cyprus from £918pp with flights (iglucruise. com). See also cruisecritic.co.uk and celestyal.com for late deals.

Q I enjoyed the travel section’s recent article headlined ‘So which airline’s premium economy is worth the money?’ (March 16). I’m going to New York in November – can you recommend flights?

Barnaby Norris, Wolverhampton

A Return premium economy

Heathrow-New York fares with Delta are from £805 in November (trailfinders.com). Other deals in this cabin class include £1,176 return with Virgin to Barbados in September and £1,178 return with American Airlines to Vancouver in June.

Q We flew from Cyprus to

Manchester via Heathrow with BA last October. In Cyprus, we were told the flight was delayed due to pilot sickness and we’d miss our connection. We were eventually put up in a Heathrow hotel, paying nearly £70 for taxis there and back. We arrived home the next day, ten hours late. No compensation is forthcoming five months on, and I have only been able to speak a BA ‘chatbot’. Can you help?

Denise Mason, via email

A You are due £350 each for a delay of this length under EU rules, plus expenses. After our intervention, BA has finally settled your claim, but didn’t explain why it took so long.
