DRAMA RED EYE

REALITY THE PIANO

Claudia Winkleman is back for a second run of the series that couldn’t be further removed from her other solo hit, The Traitors, if it tried. The Piano is a heartwarmi­ng and often emotional contest in which amateur pianists show off their skills in a public setting in the hope of winning the chance to play at the Royal Festival Hall. The opener sees a boxer, a DJ and an 80-year-old trying to impress judges Mika and Lang Lang in Manchester. Channel 4, 9pm

DOCUMENTAR­Y WHEN EVIL CAME TO ROCHDALE

In 1990, various children were taken into care amid rumours of ritual abuse in the Lancashire town. Channel 5’s programme examines the case, which led to many youngsters being wrongly parted from their families for long periods of time, as well as other scandals inspired by so-called satanic panic. DRAMA DOPESICK

Originally on Disney+, Dopesick, a hard-hitting, eight-part true-life drama, is now debuting on regular TV. Kaitlyn Dever, right, is among the stars re-enacting the shocking allegation­s surroundin­g a conflict of interest between the US government and a pharmaceut­ical company that has led to a national opioid addiction crisis. REALITY GARDEN RESCUE

A new run of the gently entertaini­ng garden makeover show begins as Charlie Dimmock and Chris Hull descend on Port Sunlight, where a duo want to transform the scruffy plot behind their cottage into a Bali-inspired paradise. BBC1, 3.45pm, Mon-Thur

TRAVEL NARROW ESCAPES

Delightful new daytime series following the fortunes of those living on the UK’s canal network, either because they like the romance of being on the water, or because it’s cheaper than being on dry land. Among those featured in the first episode is Carrie from Doncaster, who is swapping her traditiona­l threebedro­om home for a narrowboat in need of renovation, as well as a fatherand-son duo who run a pizzeria from their vessel. SPORT LIVE EFL

At the start of the season, some pundits claimed that Leicester City had the best squad ever assembled in the Championsh­ip and so would walk the league. FOOD JAMIE COOKS SPRING

Jamie Oliver, above, fresh from teaching us how to use an air fryer, is back with another new series. This time he has tips on making the most of seasonal produce, and begins by demonstrat­ing recipes for crispy pork noodles with rhubarb, spinach and goat’s cheese risotto and cheesy spring cannelloni. DOCUMENTAR­Y MIRIAM: DEATH OF A REALITY STAR

Remember Sky’s 2004 series There’s Something About Miriam? It featured Miriam Rivera, turning her into reality TV’s first transgende­r star. She was found dead in her Mexican apartment in 2019, aged 38 – her husband claimed she had been murdered. Channel 4’s threepart series examines her life and legacy. REALITY INTERIOR DESIGN MASTERS WITH ALAN CARR: THE FINAL

With an increasing number of stalking incidents hitting the headlines, ITV1’s programme hears from women who have been targeted by obsessive men. The family of Gracie Spinks, 23, who was killed by a colleague after her fears were ignored by the police, also reveal their traumatic story. ITV1, 9pm

TRAVEL MICHAEL PALIN IN NIGERIA

Perhaps it’s time to wrap the everaffabl­e presenter in cotton wool – it’s rather nerve-racking seeing him begin the final leg of his exploratio­n on one of Nigeria’s most dangerous roads. He sees shocking oil pollution of a river, learns about Britain’s part in the city of Benin City’s history and enjoys a more peaceful tour of one of Lagos’s ‘megachurch­es’. Channel 5, 9pm

REALITY RACE ACROSS THE WORLD

Betty and James, above, and the other remaining pairs set off from Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and have to travel 870 miles through Thailand to the Shan Hills that straddle the Thai-Myanmar border, where the fourth checkpoint is situated in the mountain town of Mae Sariang. Will the teams decide to travel west, taking potentiall­y faster routes, or head east through Krong Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor Wat? BBC1, 9pm

HISTORY A VERY BRITISH SEX SCANDAL: THE LOVE CHILD AND THE SECRETARY

Edwina Currie, Matthew Parris and Ian Hislop recall the events of 1983, when Margaret Thatcher’s suave lieutenant Cecil Parkinson’s 12-year affair with his secretary, Sara Keays, was revealed. The media storm overshadow­ed the Conservati­ve Party’s conference and forced the then Secretary of State for Trade and Industry to resign in disgrace.

DRAMA THE TATTOOIST OF AUSCHWITZ

Based on Heather Morris’s novel, this six-part drama begins in 1942 as Slovakian Jew Lale (Jonah Hauer-King) is transporte­d to Auschwitz-Birkenau concentrat­ion camp. There he meets Gita (Anna Prochniak, above) and the duo find a love that defies the horrors around them. Harvey Keitel plays the latter-day Lale recalling the events. Sky Atlantic, 9pm. It’s full steam ahead for John Sergeant, Peter Davison and Paul ‘Piglet’ Middleton again as the trio explore some of Britain’s most beautiful locations. They begin in the Lake District, travelling around on a narrow-gauge steam train, a gigantic traction engine, a 1906 steam launch and a bone-shattering miniature Foden steam wagon. Channel 5, 8pm

TRAVEL MICHAEL PORTILLO’S LONG WEEKENDS

Will Portillo be persuaded to ditch his colourful outfits for something a bit more understate­d when he visits Milan, Italy’s capital of fashion? DOCUMENTAR­Y JACKIE O: STYLE & SCANDAL

Born into New York aristocrac­y in 1929, Jacqueline Lee Bouvier became an internatio­nal figure after her marriage to future US President John F. Kennedy in 1953. This programme, on the 30th anniversar­y of her death aged 64, explores her public image and life, including the trauma of JFK’s assassinat­ion and her marriage to Aristotle Onassis. Channel 5, 10pm
