BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2023 (BBC1, 7pm)
IN the 69 years since Christopher Chataway beat fellow runner Roger Bannister and showjumper Pat Smythe to the first ever BBC Sportsview’s Personality of the Year award, the annual ceremony has been full of magical moments. And there is plenty for presenters Gary Lineker, Gabby Logan, Clare Balding and Alex Scott to look back on from across 2023 in Salford tonight. England goalkeeper Mary Earps is the frontrunner for the 70th edition of the award, with cricketer Stuart Broad, jockey Frankie Dettori, golfer Rory McIlroy and heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson also among the nominees.
Love Your Garden (STV, 8pm)
ALICE and Adam Robinson live in Bicester. She is a sign language communication worker at a primary school while he runs an inclusivity football team and also engages in fundraising activities for the children. Not surprisingly, they don’t have much time for their garden, so Alan Titchmarsh and the team get to work. The presenter comes up with a luxurious design inspired by a getaway in Vietnam, with exotic planting, new rockery and modern water features
The Hairy Bikers: Coming Home for Christmas (BBC2, 9pm)
DAVE Myers was diagnosed with cancer in March 2022, leading to more than 30 gruelling chemotherapy sessions. In this festive special, he is joined by Si King as they search for some seasonal ingredients to include in a spectacular festive banquet that they’re serving as a thank you to all those who have helped Dave, from the doctors and nurses who administered the treatment, to the food producers who made him fall back in love with food and the family and friends who have supported him.
Inside Mcvitie’s at Christmas (C4, 9pm)
THIS programme reveals how one of Britain’s best-known biscuit brands, facing an ultra-competitive Christmas market, is attempting to stay ahead of its rivals with a special twist on the iconic Penguin bar and the creation of a brand-new product – the white chocolate digestive. With McVitie’s producing over 92 million biscuits per day over the festive period, we also uncover the challenge of producing such staggering numbers against a tight deadline.
