BOSS THANKS FANS FOR FUNDING

-

DANNY COWLEY has saluted Lincoln City’s generous fans for digging deep into their pockets to help him sign attacker Nathan Arnold.

The 29-year-old will need no introduction to the Sincil Bank faithful as he’s just helped fire arch rivals Grimsby Town to promotion.

Arnold scored in injury-time at Wembley to seal the Mariners’ path to the Football League as they beat Forest Green Rovers 3-1 in the National League promotion final.

The former Alfreton and Mansfield winger has signed a two-year deal and brings knowledge of what it takes to be part of a promotion push, having been at Cambridge United when they went up in 2014.

Imps fans have been boosting the budget of new boss Cowley and his assistant, brother Nicky. So far, the Cowleys Campaign has raised just over £22,000 and Cowley, who guided part-time Braintree Town to a remarkable third-place finish last season, is hugely grateful.

He said: “We are delighted to have signed Nathan. It wouldn’t have been possible without the crowdfunder. I am so thankful to all the fans who have contributed.

“It has allowed us to sign a player that will add real flair and creativity to our squad. Furthermore, Nathan is a fantastic professional and a really good character. We are really looking forward to working with him.”

Arnold added: “I am very happy to sign and really looking forward to get going.”
