COALVILLE TN 4 CORBY TOWN 1

- By Joel Moore

COALVILLE stormed to an eventful victory over Corby Town, relegating the Steelmen from the Northen Premier League.

After an even opening Nathan Watson opened the scoring for the hosts in the 15th minute, heading in past Aidan Grant.

Watson doubled his and Coalville’s tally eight minutes later as he tapped home Alex Dean’s driven cross.

Despite the threat of relegation, Corby seemed to lack the urgency and motivation to turn the game around heading into the break.

Coalville then extended their lead early in the first half as Dean again ran rampant down the left, lifting a cross to the far post, where Marcus Marshall was on hand to slot.

Things went from bad to worse for the Steelmen as Aaron Brown was dismissed following a bust up in the Coalville box.

Corby managed to pull one goal back in the 68th minute, as Philip Trainer headed in Ben Milne’s cross, narrowly crossing the line and giving the visitors a slither of hope.

But as the clock ticked down, all hope of an unlikely come back slipped away.

Rory Coleman topped off an emphatic win for the Ravens with drilled a low shot into the bottom right corner, providing a happy end of the season for Coalville but a second successive relegation for Corby.
