BIGNOT’S FURIOUS AS KIDDY CRUISE IT
THIS victory might not be remembered amongst Kidderminster’s most famous FA Cup glory days, but there will have been few more dominant displays against higher-ranked oppostion, as shell-shocked Chester were comfortably defeated at Aggborough.
Goals from Emmanuel Sonupe and Joe Ironside booked National North Harriers’ place in tomorrow night’s firstround draw as lacklustre Chester, who failed to register a shot on target, were dumped out at this stage for the third season running.
“We were excellent,” beamed Kiddy boss John Eustace. I’m really proud of them, that’s one of our better performances of the season.
“The front three were fantastic, but so was the whole team’s work rate.”
Harriers took the lead when Elton Ngwatala, the stand-out performer throughout, hit a rasping low drive from 25 yards which struck Alex Lynch’s lefthand upright and rebounded into the path of the onrushing Sonupe, who diverting the ball into the net for his ninth goal of the season.
Chester did carve out a chance to equalise just after the half hour mark as John McCombe headed over from Andy Halls’ pinpoint cross, but that was as good as it got for the visitors.
The hosts continued their domination throughout the second period and finally doubled their lead 11 minutes from time as Sonupe beat former Harriers man Lathaniel Rowe-Turner to cross for Ironside, whose header from close range found its way past Lynch via the post.
Chester boss Marcus Bignot delivered his post-match team talk on the pitch in front of over 500 angry travelling supporters and said: “We’re hugely disappointed by the manner of the defeat. Kidderminster are full-time, and if we continue not to be full-time, then that’s the kind of performances and results you get. It will be a full-time programme from now on.”
