CITIZENS LET SIX-HITTING SAINTS TOP THE TABLE

- By Chris Smart

CHAMPIONS The New Saints moved to the top of the table following their 6-1 thrashing of promoted Prestatyn Town.

Chris Seargeant’s brace and Greg Draper’s seventh goal in four games guided TNS to victory with Jon Routledge, Alex Darlington and Jamie Mullan also on target. Jack Kenny bagged Prestatyn’s consolation.

Previous leaders Bangor City dropped to fourth following their late 3-2 defeat to Cardiff Met.

The Citizens had looked set to retain their place at the summit after goals from Damian Allen and Brayden Shaw put them into a two-goal lead.

But Eliot Evans struck twice in seven minutes before Harry Owen’s 85th-minute winner for the Archers moved them into second.

Melford Simpson’s late strike gave Connah’s Quay Nomads a 2-1 triumph over struggling Carmarthen Town.

A Ryan Wignall effort was enough to put the Nomads into a half-time lead, but a Liam Thomas penalty levelled the scoreline with 15 minutes to go.

Debutant Simpson then converted Wignall’s pass in the dying minutes to steal the victory.

Previous leaders Llandudno lost 3-2 to Aberystwyth Town thanks to a late Jonny Spittle strike.

Declan Walker headed Aber ahead shortly after the restart. Goals from Toby Jones and Danny Taylor swung the game in Llandudno’s favour.

But a Danny Shaw own goal restored parity in the 84th minute before Spittle’s late heroics.

Bala Town returned to form with a 3-1 win at Newtown.

Joe Kenton levelled Jordan Evans’ 12th-minute strike before Mike Hayes put Bala back in front. Evans then sealed the win with his second goal of the game. Cefn Druids left it late to beat Barry Town United 3-1. Kayne McLaggon put hosts Barry ahead before Lewis Buckley equalised on the hour mark.

Late goals from Ashley Ruane and Buckley completed the comeback. Llanelli returned to the top of the Nathaniel Car Sales League when they trounced ten-man Afan Lido 4-0 at Princess Margaret Way.

And deadly striker Lee Trundle was again the star of the show as he bagged a hat-trick.

One-time Swansea City idol Trundle scored in each half and capped a fine display with a strike a minute into stoppage-time. Chris Jones was also on target. Llanelli took over from Goytre United, who crashed to a shock 51 home reverse at their namesakes Goytre from Gwent.

Airbus UK Broughton are the new leaders of the Huws Gray Alliance after a comprehensive 50 victory over lowly Caersws.

Alfons Fosu-Mensah, brother of Manchester United youngster and Crystal Palace loanee Timothy, was at the double for the former Premier League side.

Ryan Edwards, Steve Tommosen and Bailey Jackson also found the net in the rout. Previous leaders Caernarfon Town slipped down to second after a 2-2 draw at Guilsfield.
