Fearon is the star in Marine raid

- By Luke Bailey

A GOAL in each half gave Marine a valuable three points in this six-pointer at a blustery Dales Lane as Rushall were unable to produce a meaningful performance and with it claim a precious three points.

Danny Mitchley scored from the spot on seven minutes after the referee controversially penalised Joe Hull for a foul inside the area on the Lilywhites captain.

It was a harsh decision and eventually ensured the momentum was with the visitors who refused to give this up as they started to dominate proceedings.

Rushall could have equalised on 21 minutes but Danny Waldron headed inches wide from a sublime Josh Webb cross down the right hand side of the pitch.

The home side were themselves given a penalty in firsthalf stoppage time after keeper Martin Fearon brought down Andre Landell in the box. Landell picked himself up to take the spot kick but his effort went wide of the goal disappointingly.

Rushall could have equalised straight after the restart, when substitute Dom Dell was played in down the right.

His shot beat Fearon but hit the post and rolled agonisingly to safety much to his team-mates’ frustrations.

Marine doubled their lead against the run of play on 57 minutes.

Liam Tongue headed past Hill from a Chris Lomax cor- ner to make it 2-0 to the visitors.

Fearon kept the Pics at bay twice in a minute on 82 minutes, first tipping wide a Majed Osman shot and then parrying away a deflected shot from the resulting corner.

The visiting keeper once again kept Osman out five minutes later, sticking out a hand to block a point blank effort to ensure Marine ran out winners with a clean sheet.
