DRAPER’S DOUBLE HIT IS ENOUGH FOR SAINTS

THE NEW SAINTS stay top of the Welsh Premier League table after they came from behind to beat Aberystwyt­h Town 2-1.

Declan Walker fired Aber into a lead but Greg Draper grabbed his eighth and ninth goals in the last five games to give TNS a win.

But Cardiff Metropolit­an University made it four straight wins as they beat Newtown 2-0.

Adam Roscrow put the Students ahead after Luke Boundford was judged to have handled the ball inside the area. And the striker notched his sixth league goal of the season in the second half.

Bangor City fell to back-toback defeats as Huws Gray Alliance champions Prestatyn

Town claimed a 4-2 victory. Both teams scored inside the opening 10 minutes with Dean Rittenberg cancelling out Jack Kenny’s opener. A Stephen Hewitt drive then put Bangor in front but Prestatyn fought back with Reece Fairhurst scoring from a James Stead corner.

A goal from Danny Hughes salvaged a point for Llandudno as they drew 1-1 with Connah’s Quay Nomads. A Les Davies double helped Bala to a 2-0 victory over newly promoted Barry Town United while Carmarthen Town earned their fourth point of the season with a goalless draw against Cefn Druids at The Rock. In Welsh League Division One, Haverfordw­est County joined Llanelli Town at the top when they romped to a 3-0 victory over Briton Ferry Llansawel at Old Road.

Steffan Williams gave the Bluebirds a first-half lead and Danny Williams and Declan Carroll netted after the break to complete the success. Llanelli remain at the head of the table on goal difference despite being held to a 2-2 draw by Port Talbot at Stebonheat­h Park.

Prolific striker Lee Trundle scored both Llanelli goals, one just before half time and the other seven minutes into the second period.

Cortez Belle converted a first half penalty and Rhys Owen was also on target for Port Talbot. Elsewhere Cambrain and

Clydach overcame Ton Pentre by 5-1 in a Rhondda derby.

Penybont moved up to fifth place with a hard-earned 2-1 win over Caerau Ely at the Kymco stadium.

Marcus Griffiths and Joe Hopkins netting for the hosts, with the winner coming in injury time. Tre Merrett bagged a brace as Undy Athletic beat Monmouth

Town 4-2. Elsewhere Caernarfon

Town’s defence of the Huws Gray Cup is over after a surprise 2-0 defeat to Porthmadog in the first round of this year’s competitio­n. After a goalless first half, Joe Chaplin and Cai Jones struck within two minutes of each other to claim a surprise win over the Canaries, who have won the cup three times in the past four years.
