CALLANDER’S TIMELY STRIKE

- By Jim Rowe

THE Angels and the Swifts served up a six goal thriller.

On nine minutes Juan Luque opened the scoring for the visitors, converting with a header.

Two minutes later Dan Thompson equalised.

On 15 minutes Heybridge restored their lead with Samuel Bantick scoring from close in.

Three minutes later Joe Turner equalised for the Angels with a shot from the edge of the box that gave Danny Sambridge little chance.

The hosts took the lead for the first time in the 20th minute when Turner hit the woodwork, with Xavier Vidal pouncing on the loose ball to kick it into an empty net.

The second half didn’t quite live up to the quality of the first, but despite that Chris Kinnear and Vidal for Tonbridge both had decent shots on target, while Callander and Ricky Sappleton might have equalised for Heybridge.

It was the visitors who eventually forced the equalising goal in the 81st minute through Callander.

Andre McCollin might have won it for Tonbridge in the 90th minute but he saw his header go just wide of the left-hand post.
