GREEN IS ON SONG AS STONES ROLL ON

- By Mark Doig

WELLING’S six-game winning run collapsed against a disciplined Wealdstone side, who extended their unbeaten league run to eight.

The Wings made a promising start and came close when Tom Bradbrook wasn’t able to reach a teasing Jeffrey Monakana cross.

Daniel Green and Shaquille Hippolyte Patrick both had chances for the Stones, before Abobaker Eisa missed a great chance with a header from Green’s cross.

Eisa again headed wide from an Edward Oshodi cross before Wealdstone went ahead on 38 minutes.

Green was again the provider with a cross that Ryan Sellers finished at the far post.

Three minutes after the break, Jack Parkinson was adjudged to have fouled the lively Eisa, brother of Cheltenham star Mohamed, in the area and Green drove his spot-kick down the middle for the Stones’ second goal.

Welling looked to hit back with sub Bradley Goldberg sending Tom Bradbrook through, but he stabbed wide before the hosts were hampered further when Ben Jefford was sent off.

Jonathan North made a good save from Bradbrook before the Wings pulled one back on 65 minutes when Parkinson firmly headed Monakana’s corner into the top corner. STAR MAN: Daniel Green (Wealdstone) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
