Nantwich are left very frustrated

- By Steve Sharman

DESPITE an early goal from defender Joel Stair, Nantwich Town succumbed to a disappointing defeat at the hands of Coalville Town.

Nantwich will be frustrated with their efforts after thinking they had got themselves into a winning position after an electric start to proceedings.

Stair gave Nantwich the lead after 13 minutes after the whipped corner of Matt Bell gave the ex-Hanley defender an easy header, leaving Matt Coton with no chance.

The visitors clawed one back after 26 minutes as a foul on ‘keeper Will Jaaskelainen went unnoticed and Cleveland Taylor bundled the ball home much to the annoyance of the home players.

The bench seemed visibly frustrated at the leveller as Nantwich seemed in control and set to kick on and claim a crucial win.

The Ravens doubled their lead after 44 minutes as Jermaine Hollis created space outside the box before volleying the ball into the top right hand corner as the visitors took the lead into the break.

The third goal came after 52 minutes as Kyle Bryant found space on the edge of the area.

His curled effort towards goal was saved excellently by Jaaskalainen, but the ball dropped straight to Daniel Creaney, who simply tapped the ball home with no goal- keeper in sight to give his side a real advantage in the game.

Probably the main talking point of the game came just before the hour mark as Harry Clayton went in late on Bryant, and was shown a straight red card.

The Dabbers were unable to get back into the game as Coalville were content to play out the rest of the game.

It’s back to the drawing board now for a Nantwich side keen to improve.
