HAMPTON & RICHMOND B 1 BOGNOR REGIS TOWN 0

The Non-League Football Paper - - NATIONAL LEAGUE SOUTH - By Oliver Thomas

A SHAUN JEFFERS strike six minutes from time handed Hampton & Richmond victory against Bognor Regis.

During a cagey first half, the Beavers were frustrated as their visitors created the better chances early on, with Ollie Pearce having the pick of the bunch, when he managed to dink the ball over keeper Will Henry towards goal, but Ben Wynter managed to clear the ball off the line.

Hampton’s best chance of the first half came from Jeffers, but after Bradley Hudson-Odoi picked him out, he could only blaze over.

The Beavers nearly broke the deadlock on 75 minutes when sub Harry Crawford’s header rattled the crossbar.

Brendan Kiernan’s venomous shot was then tipped onto the bar by keeper Dan Lincoln.

But Hampton’s persistence finally paid off as Jeffers’ close control and neat turn inside the box gave him space to drill his effort across goal and into the bottom right corner.

Bognor’s misery was compounded when captain Sami El-Abd was shown a straight red card for an apparent leading elbow in stoppage time.

STAR MAN: Shaun Jeffers (Hampton & Richmond Borough) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
