ENFIELD LUCK HAS RUN OUT
A GAME low on quality was decided by a first-half free-kick that found its way past home keeper Joe Wright off the defensive wall.
After a scrappy opening 15 minutes, with half-chances at either end, Enfield’s Sam Youngs had the ball in the visitors’ net but he had been flagged offside in the build-up.
Loanee keeper Manny Agboola collected a high ball impressively under pressure from Ryan Blake as Town’s attack failed to spark. A couple of minutes later, midfielder Ryan Blackman raced through but his left foot effort was tipped over the bar by Agboola.
Ten minutes before the break, having conceded an unnecessary free kick near the edge of their own box in a central position, Town were made to pay when Tom Richards drove the ball low past the depairing dive of Wright.
Town had the wind at their backs in the second period but struggled to make any real headway. Blake and Liam Hope had efforts kept out by Agboola. At the other end Jack Midson beat Taofiq Olomowewe to the ball but drilled his shot wide. Meanwhile Blake was again thwarted by Agboola before Hope had the ball in the Tanners’ net but again from an offside position.
