A GOAL in each half from Warrington saw them strengthen their place in the top five.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Tony Gray was able to loop an effort over goalkeeper James Wren and into the unguarded net.

In the 37th minute Hednesford were almost caught out again but Matt Curley made a fine block challenge on Jamie McDonald.

Five minutes into the second period a glorious chance came the way of Hednesford when the ball broke for James Fitzgibbon but he fired his effort over.

In the 56th minute Warrington added a second goal when Sean Williams did well to work the ball into some space on the edge of the box and his low shot found the back of the net.

The Pitmen almost responded immediately as Darren Campion whipped in a free-kick and Joey Butlin headed wide.

Another chance came the way of Hednesford in the 71st minute but Reece King saw his shot cleared.

In the 84th minute the Pitmen were reduced to ten men as Joe Fitzpatrick was sent off for a block tackle, and with him went any hope of a comeback.
