JENNISON’S STUNNER PUTS THE BULLS SEVEN IN FRONT

- By Paul Rogers

ASTUNNING goal from new signing Jennison MyrieWilliams helped Hereford cement their position at the top of the table.

The Bulls winger unleashed a thunderous strike from 30 yards out that hit the underside of the crossbar on its way in.

And Keyon Reffell sealed victory when his shot squirmed under the body of Weymouth goalkeeper Will Dennis.

“We asked for a 90-minute performance and I think we got that,” said Hereford boss Pete Beadle.

“And it just goes to show how good we can be.

“We started brightly and kept them pinned back and I don’t think [Martin] Horsell had a save to make.

“They have some fantastic players, so to keep them quiet meant it was a good, solid professional performance.”

The win, coupled with King’s Lynn losing at Tiverton, has put Hereford seven points clear at the top with two games in hand.

“It’s boring I suppose, but we’re just focusing on ourselves and keep putting points on the board,” added Beadle.

“We’ve given ourselves a healthy lead, but it’s no way done and dusted yet.”

Hereford started well and a Pablo Haysham shot went straight into the arms of keeper Dennis.

Mike Symons then produced a good save from Dennis on the half-hour before Eliot Richards shot just wide shortly afterwards.

Weymouth defended well in the first half and kept the Hereford frontline relatively quiet. But MyrieWilliams’ stunner in the 55th minute calmed Hereford’s nerves and they fully deserved the win.

“Hopefully that will give him [Myrie-Williams] a boost because he has been really lacking in game time,” said Beadle. “He has had a great start and been really positive in the game.

“Hopefully, the more games he has, the better he will be.”

Haysham went close to doubling the lead on the hour mark, but his effort narrowly went wide.

However, they did make it 2-0 through Reffell and, despite seeing Weymouth have late efforts through Charlie Davis and Jake McCarthy, ran out comfortable winners.

“Sometimes you just have to stand back and admire the quality of the goal,” said Weymouth assistant manager Paul Maitland. “Hereford had a lot of the ball and showed why they are going to go on and win this league.”
