EASTAUGH EXIT SEES PLANTERS DOUBLING UP

-

NORWICH United have appointed joint-managers Garth Good and Dan Goffinfollowing the sudden resignation of boss Steve Eastaugh.

Eastaugh was in charge of the club for two seasons after they won promotion to the Isthmian League North in 2016. In his first season in charge of the Planters, the club finished ninth, but last season they finished a point short of safety and were relegated back to the Thurlow Nunn Premier.

The club had agreed the budget for the coming season with Eastaugh who was aiming to win promotion back to Step 4 at the first attempt.

Despite relegation, Eastaugh’s term finished on a high note, as they won the Norfolk Senior Cup, beating Downham Town 4-2 after extra time at Carrow Road.

But with just over a month to go before the start of the new season, Eastaugh told the hierachy last weekend that he was quitting the club.

Eastaugh, a former director of football at Wroxham, said: “I no longer feel I am taking the club forward and because of this the time is right to resign from my position as first team manager.

“I would like to thank all the players and staff past and present, and of course the chairman, for their effort and support in what has been an enjoyable time. I wish them all every success for the future.

New management duo Good and Goffin have extensive coaching and management experience, including working with the Norwich City Academy, and will take charge of the Planters’ first friendly, away to Caister on Tuesday, kickoff 6.45pm.

A Planters statement said: “The club would like to thank Steve for all his hard work and wish him all the best for the future.”
