DEAN HAS HIS GOOSE COOKED

- By Tom Harle

IT WAS an unhappy return to AFC Sudbury for club legend Dean Greygoose as his Mildenhall

Town side were knocked out of the FA Cup with a 20 defeat at King’s Marsh.

Greygoose spent three seasons at Sudbury from 2002 and is Town’s most successful-ever manager, masterminding promotion last term.

But the former Crystal Palace man watched his side flounder against their Isthmian North rivals.

Sudbury surged ahead on 37 minutes when Darryl Coakley rose highest to nod home.

The second arrived in the 67th minute, Jordan Blackwell led a rapid breakaway and fed Phil Kelly in who finished brilliantly to kill the tie. Elsewhere Belper

Town exorcised demons with a 2-1 triumph over

Lincoln United – knocking out the very opposition that ended their FA Cup run last season.

The Nailers were beaten 4-1 in a replay at the same stage in 2017 and even lost 5-2 to Lincoln in the Northern Premier League on Wednesday night.

And their bogey side led once again on 18 minutes at Christchurch Meadow, debutant keeper James Leverton fumbling on the edge of the box into the path of Kevin Hemagou.

Rikki Paylor was the man to turn the tide, the striker stabbing home on 40 minutes after a goalmouth scramble to level terms.

Whites midfielder Matt Cotton – who scored in the midweek league victory – was red-carded on the stroke of half-time to leave his side in the lurch.

Deep into added time, Paylor headed firmly past Emery to send Belper through.

Dernell Wynter’s goal inside 23 seconds set Potters Bar Town on their way to a 2-0 victory over

Aveley at Parkside. Wynter got his name on the scoresheet virtually from the kick-off and Bradley Sach’s close-range finish later ensured safe passage for the Scholars. Sutton Coldfield

Town’s miserable FA Cup record received a shot in the arm in the form of a 30 defeat of Gresley.

The Royals had only won one FA Cup game in the last four seasons but opened brightly and Mitch Clarke steamed in to arrow home early on.

Gresley had by far the better of the second half, so it was a surprise when Sutton increased their lead in the 80th minute as Omar Haughton’s cross was tapped in by Jordan Nadat.

Within a minute Sutton went further ahead when a great run down the left by Leon Brown was finished with a perfect cross to Harvey Howell who made no mistake.

Meanwhile Northwood cruised to a comfortable 31 victory over Hellenic League opponents Longlevens.

Northwood dominated the first half and Ben Pattie put his side in front after just 15 minutes with a sublime chip from 35 yards.

Top scorer James Ewington doubled the lead on 48 minutes and it was plain sailing until the visitors were awarded a penalty on 62 minutes, put away perfectly by James Campbell.

But it stirred the Woods into action and Ewington turned sharply and tucked a second goal inside the post after 74 minutes.

Jason Hallett struck against his former club to earn Cheshunt a 1-0 win over Canvey Island.

The hosts got their winner in the first half when a cross from the right was flicked goalwards and headed in from close range by Hallett.

Bury Town pushed past Waltham Abbey 2-0, an Olly Hughes brace in the space of four minutes putting them through, while goals from Thomas Barton and Remi Nelson saw Basildon United beat Whitton United 2-1.
